About the venue
Transition Gallery is a not-for-profit space run by artist Cathy Lomax. It has a rolling programme of innovative shows that combine emerging and more established artists. The gallery has given first shows to many artists that go on to establish international reputations such as Stella Vine. Transition also publishes the magazines Garageland and Arty, and occasionally books through its imprint Transition Editions

Mime 1 features Baroque ballpoint drawings depicting hairy characters, luminous photograms that evoke scientific processes and tiny, twisted, torched glass organisms scuttling over mirrors.
Look closely and see dark mutating cosmic worlds, populated by cartoon brains, clouds, probing eyeballs and curious creatures vying for attention. These alien beings are in a constant state of flux luring us into their stormy universes through a seductive eddy of paint or a glimmer of florescent green.
These depictions of extraordinary 'natural' forces connect us with our own inner worlds, and suggest interrelated systems such as reproduction, death, decay and regeneration
