Fire fighting...with leather? at Museum of London
Leather is not usually associated with fire-fighting! However, for many centuries it was used by fire fighters for both protective clothing and equipment. Meet Rob Payton, our Deputy Head of Conservation, to find out about how the clothing and equipment were made and get the chance to look at X-rays and handle genuine helmets and fire buckets from the Museum's collections. This talk is part of our Conservation in Action series.

Walk: Early black writers & radicals at Museum of London
This walk takes us on the trail of well known activists such as Marcus Garvey, who used London as a base, as well as lesser-known writers such as the 19th century editor Celestine Edwards and the publisher Duse Mohamed Ali. It also focuses on late 18th century and early 19th century Black revolutionaries and writers, including Robert Wedderburn and William Davidson, and examines the part they played in the revolutionary and abolitionist struggles of the time.
