About the venue

The Empire, founded in 2003, is reopening its gallery space following major refurbishments under the management of DegreeArt.com. The gallery is sporting a change of address to the notorious Vyner Street and will opening its doors in May 2007. The gallery is based in a converted church building, boasting its beautiful original features and an open plan exhibition space of over 780sq feet. With a private view every Thursday, The Empire holds exciting changing exhibitions each week including DegreeArt.com and Contemporary Collective solo and titled group shows, as well as carefully selected contemporary exhibitions.

During London’s most exciting art month, DegreeArt.com will be hosting four one week long exhibitions connecting emerging graduate artists with buyers and collectors. Doing what they do best DegreeArt.com will open their doors making art accessible, affordable and approachable. They will be showcasing a carefully select group of artists each week who are tipped as being the artists of the future.

Lectures
Each weekly exhibition will also incorporate a FREE Tuesday guest lecture with specific industry professionals, all relating to the medium on show. Online bookings will be available from mid September.

Portfolio Reviews
Prior to the Tuesday night lecture, the guest speakers and DegreeArt.com's Elinor and Isobel will conduct a limited number of portfolio reviews for student and recent graduate artists. Please send your CV to elinor@DegreeArt.com to apply for a review.

The gallery is producing a ‘How to Buy, Collect and Invest in Graduate Art’ booklet to aid visitors during their visits to galleries.

Thursday Night Openings
Each Thursday there will be a late night opening 6-9pm with drinks and music for the after work crowd.
