Body Worlds and The Mirror of Time
Oct 24-Mar 31 2009, O2 Arena
Dr Gunther von Hagens returns with the latest instalment of the discomfiting blend of anatomy lesson, theatrical presentation and showbiz hype that is Body Worlds. This time, the focus is on life cycles and ageing, as plastinated human and animal specimens, including a giraffe, show bodies living through time – growing, maturing, packing up.

Magnificence of the Tsars
Dec 10-Mar 2 2009, V&A
Almost two centuries worth of ceremonial men’s dress from the collection of the Moscow Kremlin Museums comes to the V&A. Among the earliest examples is the wardrobe of the boy emperor Peter II who died aged 14 in 1730, having been kitted out with dozens of gold and silver embellished costumes. There are also examples of fancy dress costumes and weapons worn at court, a jewelled telescope, snuff boxes, portraits of the Tsars and illustrated books.
